Angela Slices Up Venom in the Marvel Rivals Update Trailer

The authors of the superhero online action game with characters from the Marvel universe have unveiled the next season, which will feature Angela as the star — a heroine created by Neil Gaiman («American Gods», «Sandman», «Stardust»). The winged maiden has been equipped with several powerful abilities, including flight, shield deployment, and area-of-effect damage. The developers from NetEase also reported gameplay changes aimed at improving the user experience.

In the comics, Angela has fought Spawn and met the Avengers, while in the game, she has been assigned to the Vanguard class, meaning she is equipped with strong offensive abilities. Among this Valkyrie's techniques are flight, a shield that blocks all attacks, the ability to drag an enemy to throw them off a cliff, and an ultimate landing strike that deals damage to all nearby opponents. These abilities are showcased in a gameplay trailer published on YouTube. The video also allows a glimpse of the heroine's appearance — she has been made even more athletic than in the comics. Players will get to play as Angela right after the start of the next season on September 12.

In addition to introducing the newcomer, the developers have tweaked the properties of other supers. Captain America, for example, loses a 5% damage bonus, while Thor, on the contrary, gets a stronger strike, and Doctor Strange learns to cast spells faster (the «Whirlwind of Madness» debuff now takes 6 seconds instead of 8). The duelist class has also been adjusted: Black Panther's health points are reduced from 300 to 275, Squirrel Girl is no longer extremely dangerous at long range, and Scarlet Witch, conversely, gains more striking power. Suffice it to say that «Reality Erasure» now deals 9999 damage instead of the previous 800. Similarly, the strategist class sees Loki becoming more resilient and Ultron's skills becoming more destructive.
